Why aerate water?
Helps restore the qualities of living water
Living water in nature is never stagnant. As it flows through rivers and springs, it is naturally swirled, aerated, and brought into contact with the open air. Inspired by this process, the MAYU Swirl uses a vortexing motion to help water breathe, drawing in oxygen from the surrounding air while encouraging the release of certain volatile compounds such as CO₂.
This natural interaction can help support a more balanced water profile and enhance the smoothness, freshness, and liveliness of the water. After several minutes of swirling, the result is water that feels softer, tastes cleaner, and comes closer to the qualities we associate with living water.
What is structured water?
Structured water is a state of water in which the molecules are organized into an orderly hexagonal structure, similar to what’s found in nature. This structure allows water to interact more effectively with human cells, thereby promoting better hydration and improved nutrient delivery.
Unlike stagnant or industrially processed water, structured water has a reduced surface tension, making it easier to pass through cell membranes. It is more readily absorbed by the body’s tissues, contributing to deeper hydration and helping to naturally balance the water’s pH by promoting the evaporation of dissolved CO2. It also contains more dissolved oxygen, enhancing its vitality and taste.
This nature-inspired approach offers a refined alternative to stagnant water, while embracing the principles of sustainability, wellness, and functional elegance.

Frequently asked questions
The MAYU Swirl is a vortex glass carafe designed to recreate the natural movement of flowing water. Its swirling motion structures and aerates the water to enhance taste, texture, and the overall drinking experience, while supporting deeper cellular hydration.
No. The MAYU Swirl is not a water filter. It does not remove contaminants, so it is best used with potable or pre-filtered water. Its purpose is to aerate and revitalize the water, not purify it.
You can use filtered water, potable tap water, bottled water, or reverse osmosis water. It is especially well suited to already clean water that you want to further structure and enhance in taste and mouthfeel.
Yes, as long as the water is safe to drink. While the MAYU Swirl does not filter tap water, its aeration can help volatile compounds such as chlorine dissipate more quickly, which can improve taste and make the water feel smoother.
About 10 minutes is a good benchmark. That is generally enough time to noticeably aerate the water and bring out the smoother, fresher drinking experience the Swirl is designed for.
Yes. If you already use reverse osmosis water, the MAYU Swirl can enhance the taste and drinking experience through its vortex action. For best results, we recommend adding MAYU Trace Minerals or MAYU Electrolyte Drops to remineralize the water and create a more balanced, living water experience.
Yes. Swirled water can be stored for later without losing its structure. To help preserve its quality, however, keep it in a glass or stainless steel container and avoid excessive agitation.
Drinking water at room temperature is preferable for optimal hydration, and many people find that once water has been swirled, its smoother taste and fresher mouthfeel make refrigeration less necessary. If you prefer it chilled, however, you can still refrigerate it in a glass or stainless steel container.
Yes. The MAYU Swirl can also be used with beverages such as wine, where aeration can enhance the overall drinking experience. The carafe should be washed thoroughly after each use, and the impeller may gradually become discoloured over time depending on the beverage used. If you plan to use the same MAYU Swirl for both water and other beverages, we recommend keeping a separate impeller for each.
The carafe has a 1.5 L capacity, and the 1.5 L fill line is the recommended level for creating the ideal vortex in the specially shaped carafe. Once some water has been poured, the base’s automatic weight sensor allows the swirling action to continue and adapt to the lower water level.
The carafe is made of borosilicate glass and includes a stainless steel pouring spout. The base is a rechargeable porcelain base with an automatic weight sensor.
The impeller features a magnetic core fully encapsulated in polypropylene (PP), a material widely used in food-grade applications. It is then coated in food-grade, BPA-free TPE, a durable material designed to remain stable and safe during prolonged contact with drinking water.
The vortex is created by a magnetic impeller inside the carafe that spins when activated by the motorized base. This sets the water into a smooth, continuous swirling motion, while the base’s automatic weight sensor helps adapt the speed to the amount of water remaining.
No. The MAYU Swirl uses a rechargeable base and offers up to 7 hours of wireless use on a full charge.
The set includes the glass carafe, a stainless steel pouring spout, a magnetic impeller, a rechargeable base, a USB charging cable and a 5V adapter plug.
Yes. The MAYU Swirl is backed by a 2-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
Accidents happen. The 2-year warranty covers manufacturer defects, but not accidental breakage. The good news is that both the glass carafe and the ceramic base are available separately in the spare parts section on our website, so there is no need to replace the entire MAYU Swirl if one part is damaged.
